Welcome

On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week I missed art completely because I wanted some time with writing in WriteOut:

Write Out is a free two-week celebration that will run October 12-26, 2025 where we step outside the doors of our classrooms, homes, and workplaces to write and createEveryone is invited—educators, students, families, and friends—and encouraged to explore neighborhoods, parks, and other outdoor spaces. The goal is to be inspired by the world around us and to connect and learn through place-based writing and sharing.”National Writing Project WriteOut

This year’s Choice Board of outdoor activities and writing suggestions is filled with ideas for what to write about outside, in whatever space you find. You can download a Choice Board PDF with QR codes to share with others. The project also provides a wonderful guide for writing outdoors: Writing Outside the Classroom– A Guide to Getting Started.

Join in — or plan for next year!

There are still a few more days left to give it a try, to get outdoors and observe the beauty found wherever you are, rural, small town, urban — find a park or a tree-lined neighborhood. You’ll be amazed what a slow walk by trees can bring. If you can’t make this year, try next year — put it on your calendar — it usually starts around Oct 12 on a Sunday. It’s a wonderful family activity and encourages creative and thoughtful writing about our world. Give it a try. And remember, writing is an art! You can do it!

Check Out my responses.

Note: I’m an over-achiever.
