Welcome
On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week I’ve several holiday prompts done in various styles. See which you’d like to try!
The prompts I’m following are from this set from a friend’s group:

This week I chose:
11 stockings
12 bows
13 jolly
14 hot tea
15 gnome
16 snowman
17 fireplace
The snowman was a fun lesson with Lisa Bardot on YouTube. Check it out.
Enjoy this week’s gallery:

My favorite is the mistletoe and holly. I spent quite a bit of time adding in the shading and highlights especially on the red cord tying them together. But then I love the pup holding his stocking. My own dog is the model for this one, although my dog is black and silver, which is difficult to illustrate, so I made him brown.
I also love the snowman. Notice how the scarf and hat look so soft. I used brushes without hard edges so they look knit. I also added a layer of “linen” texture to give the knit effect too. I changed my version from the lesson to be a story. The little robin brings the string for the snowman to put on his ornaments to hang.
As you can see, it’s very fun to illustrate these — I get attached to them!
Again, if you have questions, just ask.
Thanks for stopping by!
