quiet lullaby by the lake and cattails; with poem Quiet Lullaby A breeze flows across the lake beneath a blue sky peppered in growing clouds; the dog pauses to capture the scent flowing through the dry, rustling cattails; the blackbirds and wrens hide silently away as the sun’s warmth soothes me into a nap in nature’s quiet lullaby. Quiet Lullaby

warmth of the sun, a gentle breeze, a quiet peace

end of the road on Banks Lake, WA and poem: Thankful Pause I am thankful for the time for the freedom for the gift to enjoy the natural beauty just a few miles from home, a place the dog can roam, and I can walk beside the butterflies, barn swallows, and marsh wrens flying above and through the bulrushes now growing anew among the old along the lake in their own time among our chaos giving us our time our place to pause in thanks for earth’s beauty; a landscape to emulate in literal and metaphoric ways in our daily lives wherever we may be and whatever we do. Thankful Pause

so thankful for the time and place

Banks Lake; dog on alert; poem: His Playground Sniff: nose to the ground; alert: attend to that sound: splash! Muskrat retreats. Sheri Edwards Poetry/Photography/Haiku 04.15.2025 NaPoWriMo

His Playground

He prances and plays -- until alerted to a creature elsewhere -- what is it?

Golden-doodle with mullein stalk; and his poem: Not Sure He’s a Dog We’re not sure we have dog; Throw a ball, throw a stick, And he stands looking at you, wondering what to do. But hold out a stick And he’ll gladly grab it— gingerly grasping it with his snout And running, proudly, shaking it about. Sheri Edwards Poetry/Photography 04.13.2025 NaPoWriMo

Not Sure He’s a Dog

What do you think?

Western terrestrial garter snake near Banks Lake, WA and poem: And You Should Have Seen Him Jump He walked by until I called out, “Snake,” and he jumped four feet left; “Where?” “There!” Sheri Edwards Poetry/Photography/Haiku 04.12.2025 NaPoWriMo

Did you see him jump?

It's spring: not only flowers, but the snakes come out too

along Banks Lake, Wa; a poem: I Am Thankful No matter the chaos of losing one’s life savings as the country I love is dissolved— I am thankful for the warmth of the evening sun shining on my smiles, the rush of a gentle breeze from the marsh as it slips through my hair, the evensong of red-winged blackbirds clinging to last year’s cattails along Banks Lake as we, my best friends, the dog and he, laugh and walk at day’s end. Memories

Be careful when videoing the sunset and walking an athletic and very happy dog-- so much fun in the setting sun.
