Wednesday WarmUp How To Frame

Welcome!

For the past few weeks, this blog has hosted “Wednesday Warm Up,”— a day of usually quick drawing, inking, brushing as warm up to our serious art. I share a strategy to try each Wednesday using the iPad app ProCreate. I only use the brushes in the app— there are so many I haven’t tried that warming up with a new brush will be an added bonus and challenge.

This Week

This week’s warm up is a bit different. It’s a story — a Slice of Life — of our little neighborhood. And, it’s, for you, a frame for creating a little something for the kids in your neighborhood as a little warm up for yourself. It’s just a bit of my day.

The Story

The other day Scott, my husband, returned home after a masked outing to take a picture for the newspaper. Under our door mat he found a little note, pictured above.

The note is from our little neighbor next door who is a darling five year old who is learning her alphabet with the help of the older neighbor a bit further down the block who is helping her learn to write by writing “notes” to the neighbors, delivering them as they walk by or, in our case, tucked under the door mat.

How sweet is that?

My Thank You

My house once filled with the laughter of many grandchildren, now grown. But it still holds the little things of readers, writers, and artists that they enjoyed while visiting. So I gathered up some old, but still working colored pens, a couple unused notebooks, and some tracing paper and tucked them into an envelope with a little note from us and this How To Draw A Cat Page [which you’ll see again on Friday’s post].

I created a little template so I could create a few more if the girls enjoy them. Here’s the template as a png in case you would like to create a few for your children, grandchildren, neighbors.

I created the set with Studio Pen in 8.5 in by 11 in canvas at 300 DPI. Breaking down the steps to familiar things and creating the steps was a fun a way to #warmup4art today!

I hope you share #warmup4art  with your world and us!

Enjoy!
