Welcome!
I’ve enjoyed providing each week a “Wednesday Warm Up,”— a day of usually quick drawing, inking, brushing as warm up to our serious art. I’ve been sharing a strategy to try each Wednesday using the iPad app ProCreate. I’ve decided to change it up a bit for a few Wednesday Wrap Up— a wrap up of my project tips for the past week or something I’ve learned that may also help others with the same #warmup4art hashtag.
A Reflection of Gratitude
This week I was inspired to draw this cute little black-eyed junco while writing one of my daily poems: Catching Snow. And while creating it and using several brushes and techniques from several of my “teachers,” people on Skillshare and YouTube whose lessons have helped me develop as a beginning artists, I am reminded how we are who are because of those around us. We are all connected and learn from one another.
I chose a quick style, a sort of “paint by number” look using mostly the studio pen, but with others from these teachers whose work is shared on Instagram, YouTube, Skillshare. I’ve purchased brushes from Teela and Calvin [commercial] and Jennifer– and I use the free ones from Jennifer and Brenda all the time. I highly recommend taking any class from these talented and helpful artists.
Another thank you goes to Flickr Commons, where copyright free CC0 licensed illustrations and photos help me with reference images I can use as I need, even if I need to trace or combine several together to arrange for reference. For this little bird, I found a perfect one which I can use for several versions [see my “Next Steps]. Please support the Creative Commons— it’s way to share and learn from one another.
