Little Miss Spider

Every day, a photograph, a poem. As I was working on my WriteOut project the other day, a little spider — a jumping spider — crawled up my lamp to its arm and began a little journey I could watch. I’ve written about these spiders several times, including poetry, which I will share in the next section. The important thing to know is these little creatures — furry, jumpy, everywhere– take care of us very well. They destroy other gnats, roaches, and mosquitoes that bug us. They are our natural pest control. They eliminate creatures that spread disease– like mosquitoes. We know this first hand– by all the gnats and mosquitoes caught in their web that no longer bother us, and so neither do the little jumping spiders, all of whom we call Oscar, even if they are a “Miss Spider.”
