I Grew in Turns

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Down the street on the corner is this lovely Japanese maple– no matter the season, it’s beautiful. I took this picture in 2016. I have many more, because it is so lovely in its twists and turns, filtering the already filtered sun from the taller trees on the south side of it. I know they grow this way naturally, but I think the filtered light has something to do with its growing towards the sun.

And so, a poem.

I Grew

I grew in turns and twists
A search for sun across the sky
Growing where the sunbeams streamed
Through maples taller than I.
