Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Bullocks Oriole in our sycamore tree. The female is at lower left. How surprised we were to discover a pair of these bright, delightful birds in our giant sycamore. We are at the edge of their migration range. You can hear their song and story in this BirdNote.

I’m so happy to have two special birds, a humming bird and now two orioles nesting our huge canopy. I’ve written many times about our backyard canopy, but this post poem and photo will help you understand the wonders of our majestic sycamore.

This is one of the reasons we moved into this cottage. Is it beautifully magnificent?

And so, a poem

Poetry

Ornament of Summer

The sycamore stands
arms outstretched
into a canopy
of shading greenery
upon whose tips
sing a musical
orange ornament:
Bullocks Oriole
