A Lot Like Christmas

a perfect Christmas Tree in a shiny red truck at sunset where the hills shine orange

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The bazaars at city hall filled with shoppers looking for handcrafted gifts from local crafters. Guthrie was a bit nervous walking by — cars moving, people walking, people holding armfuls of items in bags with a wreath hanging from an arm. Guthrie doesn’t like change or commotion, but he doesn’t bark, he just stops and watches until he’s sure there’s no danger.

And around the corner we saw this shiny red truck with a perfect Christmas tree standing in the bed as the sun set on the hills beyond. Almost a Norman Rockwell painting. [See Norman Rockwell, Wikipedia ] It just needs a character struggling to carry the tree out of the truck. I’ll check to see if it’s still there today, waiting for the person daring to carry it in the house.

And so, a poem…

Poetry

A Lot Like Christmas

Have they been to the woods
before the snow flies
for a postcard perfect tree
in a shiny red truck
just home at sunset
shining red on the hills,
a Norman painting
for the season so near
ready for joy
in the coming year.
