rabbitbrush sprouting in December when it should be dormant
A Bit of My Day, Poetry, The Daily

Will It Be?

rabbitbrush in December; it should be dormant, yet it is sprouting again.

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. On Guthrie’s morning walk with Scott, the two of them found sprouting rabbitbrush, blooming in December when it should be dormant. When I see these spring things in winter, I cannot help but fear the heat of next summer. How long until it is too hot for earth’s creatures? Poetry

Will it be…

If it’s warm enough
to sprout again
in winter’s December,
Will it be too hot
to bloom again
like summers we remember?
