Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem.
I’ve been posting about our new dog, a dog we accepted because of all the wildlife invading our backyard: mule deer, stray cats, raccoons, squirrels, skunks. A dog would chase them away. Just there scent might be enough to keep them away.
Alas, no. That is not to be. Our dog is a golden doodle who loves everyone and every thing. He does no chasing. He is not a threat, although the deer do keep an eye on him when we walk by.
And so… A typical morning. Just one of the mule deer spending the night in our yard. We wouldn’t mind if they didn’t eat everything we plant. Oh well.
And so, a poem…

Out Our Window
In a December morning

putting on the kettle
glancing out the window
at the litter of autumn leaves
where mule deer buck
also wakes up.
