I Smell Dinner

roasted chickpeas with apples and carrots

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Yesterday was a late day for writing a poem, so the poem was short and silly. One reason for that was the delicious dinner we ate late: Roasted Chickpeas.

I love garbanzo beans, otherwise known as chickpeas. And yesterday I roasted them with carrots and apples, and today, you get the recipe. Although not required, I use Meyer’s Lemon Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil for this recipe. Enjoy.

And, a poem as a Slice of the Day:

Poetry

I Smell Dinner

“I smell dinner,” he calls.
I hear the camera case plop
into its place by the door.

“Were you a good dog today?” he asks.
I imagine the wagging tail
and an ear rub for the dog,
and he, still by the door.

“Looks good,” his smile says;
I place roasted chickpeas
with apples and carrots
dolloped with sour cream
on the table; “I’ll want more!”

And together we eat,
sharing ideas we explore.
