Welcome!

On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate. This Wednesday Wrap Up shares my challenge of #5Cards5DaysChallenge by Delores Naskrent.

Inspiration

My inspiration comes from my great-grandchildren who will soon celebrate Easter. I wanted to create cards for the three of them. So when I saw the challenge by Delores, I knew I had to join in. She provides a 72 page workbook for designing greeting cares, several stamp sets, and live demos with the course that goes with the challenge. I paid for the VIP section for extra demos and stamps.

Read about the challenge on her IG account here: Greeting Card Challenge.

Day 1

For Day 1 we received a cheat sheet about thumbnails and were encouraged to sketch several ideas for our vision of a collection of five cards.

Day 2

For Day 2 we found art we already had and created a card with text and frame stamps Delores provided. I really like this one. As you can see from the image at top, I chose one of my spring patterns for a background and then added in a rabbit from my animal study with Liz Kohler Brown.

Day 3

For Day 3 we were asked to use symmetry in our art and to create our own frames. And we were to practice hand lettering. I’m going to redo this one. I don’t like the egg or the plants. The background is one of Delores’s brushes that comes with the class. I do like my frame and the my handwritten text; I was surprised I could do it! Thank goodness for “stabilizer” in Procreate!

Tomorrow we have a live demo and I’m looking forward to that. Learning about selling greeting cards is also a part of the class. I’m glad I’ll spend these five days with Delores learning about designing and selling greeting cards.

Try It

So have you created greeting cards? If not, follow Delores Naskrent on Instagam @deloresartcanada and learn some tips. She’s also an excellent teacher of abstract painting too. She knows both Affinity Designer and Procreate.

And you’re welcome to follow this blog for art inspiration. We can share with #warmup4art to enjoy our work together! I look forward to your sharing and find me at @42Sheri, on Mastodon Sheri42, on Flickr teach.eagle Sheri 42.
