Inspiration
I snapped this photo on our daily dog walking adventure. At home I identified it as a curlycup gumweed, found in the everywhere in the United States except in the south. It certainly likes the dry part of Eastern Washington where I live.
I had just watched Teela Cunningham’s Every Tuesday tutorial on creating patterns with the ogee shape. I decided this would be another addition to my patterns of plants from “the Coulee,” what we call our little corner of the world. I used Teela’s brushes. I made a palette with the photo, and then chose a limited palette from that.
The colored dots in the background are stamped on from a brush I made to quick stamp berries. I just adjusted the brush to vary the secondary color. The brush I made from a class by Jennifer Nichols of Leila and Po Studio. [affiliate link] I’m going to play around with background colors. My husband loves this one.
