Welcome!
On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This Wednesday Wrap Up shares a busy week for art — a quick review of the week’s posts and projects that I’m still working on.
Review
Lots of learning shared, especially about brushes and styles in these posts thinking through the style; considering which brushes to use:
- Getting to Know Brushes— lots about choosing brushes for sketch, color, texture, shade, details
- Hedgehog and Acorn — choosing brushes — Lisa Bardot’s Pencil Box
- Autumn’s Glory — a DTIYS challenge with two styles, both showing brushes in action
- Pansy Backsplash Update — changing up the style with old motifs; taking time to let the project sit before final revision
Greeting Cards

As you can see, I’ve been uploading to PODs for greeting cards. An extended family member recently lost a loved one, so I added the sympathy cards, which I ordered to mail out my condolences. These were created with the motifs from my Coulee Country Collection, the globe mallow plant I’m still working on in Affinity Designer. The last one is a follow up of the other hedgehogs; this one totally my own version, not simply an adapted one. I’ve also signed up for Delores Naskrent’s Five Cards in 5 Days Challenge in Affinity Designer.
I design my cards at 10 x 14 inches, then export them at 5 x 7 inches. That way, I can also print them at the larger size if needed.
Other Projects
I’m also working on other parts of the collection to the Curlycup Gumweed. I’ve added a basic scatter design to the diamond design:

I’m also creating the beginnings of accent designs to accompany the hero patterns, including quail tracks, dots, and leaves, and the three seed design like this:

I love documenting and sharing the art I spend hours creating. So if you’ve been hesitant to share your art– go for it! Start a shop. If you have any questions, just ask! I’d be glad to help with what I know.
You’re welcome to follow this blog for art inspiration. We can share with #warmup4art to enjoy our work together! I look forward to your sharing and find me at @42Sheri, on Mastodon Sheri42, on Flickr teach.eagle Sheri 42.
So, That’s a wrap for this week’s art. Thank you for stopping by!
