Teddy Bear– How about a bunny?
Lisa Bardot taught a wonderful watercolor class on drawing a teddy bear. I’ve been taking Lisa’s tutorials for almost three years, so I was able to adapt her suggestions with a teddy bear to a bunny for my great-grandkids on Valentine’s Day. It’s really a fun, easy to follow tutorial. Give it a try!
This style is truly one of my favorites — watercolor and a bit of line work. It’s stylized painting of real things. I did use Lisa’s Watercolor Wonder brushes — they are fantastic, and this tutorial shows you a bit of how they work. Know that when you purchase the set, it comes with a detailed guide to step by step use of each brush; mini-lessons right in the guide. Below the linked video are links to a free sample set.
I used the Watercolor Wonder guide while illustrating this; I forgot how to “lighten” colors, and Lisa provides two brushes for lightening the color of what’s already on the canvas. I chose the “crumple color lifter” brush to create a lighter, mottled look. You can see it in all the light areas of the body and face of the bunny.
I chose a palette that included teal, reds, green and soft brown.

I wrote a post a while ago about a card I made you can download: Art for You Valentines.
