NaNoWriMo It Is Coming

On Highway 2 is a rest area we stop at on our way to the west side of Washington State; we can walk into the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest for a bit to relax and rest on the four hour drive. It’s absolutely stunning; it is the majesty that is our country. And this beauty, these public lands that belongs to the public, is up for grabs to the highest bidder, perhaps not even an American, to strip and destroy.

It’s Coming To Your Favorite Place

It’s coming…

Your favorite place
a river runs through it
a rush of glacial water
over rounded rocks
soothes the soul;

Your favorite place
Ponderosa pine leaning
into the wind, their song
a lullaby whose melody
slips you into serene sleep;

Your favorite place
purple mountains, majestic,
with deer and elk roaming
fish with the stream flowing,
you thankful for its abundance;

Your favorite place
on public lands and National Parks
sold to the highest bidder
stripped of what you love
emptied of majesty by His Majesty.

It’s coming.
