Weekly WrapUp Spoonflower Challenges

Welcome

On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week I created two collections for Spoonflower challenges.

It’s been a busy week, and I wanted to share the work briefly here. I’ll write more about each collection, hopefully tomorrow. Here’s a bit about them.

Chintz Revival

Today I spent the day immersed in researching and designing a collection for the Chintz Revival design challenge. I’m not even sure which one I will enter yet. I really like this style. I have a tin set in chintz style from my mom. I’ll get a picture tomorrow in the daylight. She loved those designs.

My design is a simple version of chintz in trailing vine, symmetrical, and striped designs with gingham and plain stripes as blenders. I love the palette. I’ll explain more tomorrow.

Faded Resort Challenge

I was a bit stumped about this challenge, and the colors are those my granddaughter likes, but I’m not so enamored with them. I do like the collection though. More on the process on another day.

Vintage Faded Resort

Imagine that nostalgic resort on the coast, where weathered fairy tiles invoke calm and comfort as sunset rays soften the painterly effects of terra cotta, yellows, sand, clay. Dream away in faded symmetry story.

I created several blenders/coordinates for the main tile pattern. You can see the whole collection on Spoonflower here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Designing collections is so enjoyable — creating a whole ensemble for the home is quite an accomplishment. Designing for challenges adds a bit of difficulty to meet the standards. Stop by latter this week for more on how I worked through these two collections.

You can find many helpful artists teachers on my Artist Resources  page. Take a look at their IG and YouTube. Find one that fits your learning and art preferences and stick with them a while to develop your skills. If you have any questions, just ask!

You’re welcome to follow this blog for art inspiration. We can share with #warmup4art to enjoy our work together! I look forward to your sharing and find me at @42Sheri, on Mastodon Sheri42, on Flickr teach.eagle Sheri 42. And, I’m so thankful you’ve been joining me with art this year! Take care!
