In my local neighborhood, maple leaves still cling to branches as most have fallen to the ground. Mice and quail search the ground for seeds. Squirrels hop from branch to branch. Pine trees add green to the landscape and pinecone seeds for critters. Trees and bushes with red winter berries provide food for the songbirds we love.
