Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Looking north on the Columbia River [Lake Rufus Woods] towards Grand Coulee Dam in December, 2019, near sunset, the calm of a turbulent river is smoothed by the overcast evening sky, inverting our chaotic world or vitriol and lies back to a serene, diplomatic, democratic world of past times where dialogue and truth carried us forward to a better future. I saw a vestige of that with a hope for its return in our diverse and ever struggling towards peace and justice for all world. Most of us want that world, and not the world of those devouring the rights of others to choose their own paths. Theirs is an evil and cruel world of power; we seek to live together in peace to save the planet and our humanity.

And so, a poem.

Winter Solace

Peace of December,
mirrored clouds smooth the river,
our world, inverted
in solace, imagined hope,
a vestige of lucid times
