Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Last year on today’s date, May 11th, we passed the flowering dogwood tree on the north side of the bank on our daily walk. In the search for peace, also pause for the simple: the four-petaled dogwood blossom, as an example. Elegance of nature. The petals are, in fact, leaf-like structures called bracts, which may serve several purposes: protection of the flower, attracting pollinators, or catching bugs. This lovely dogwood “bract” seems to be catching our eye! And so, a poem.

Dogwood

Let the simple catch your eye:
a touch of grace as you pass by.
