Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Oh for two weeks in May, the favorite and lovely lilac bush blooms, and I can bring in just one small clump and let its fragrance and beauty fill my heart and mind with its memory until the next May, a way for our souls to hold the lovely of the world.

And so, a poem

Poetry

Lilac So Small

The bush is full and one is all that’s needed—
One clump of many delicate petals, faded purple
In a vase on the table: ah! breathe its beauty
with closed eyes to remember its entirety,
to hold its loveliness until next year’s full bloom again.
