Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. On our walk by Crescent Bay on Lake Roosevelt, the reservoir behind Grand Coulee Dam, we stopped in awe of the beauty of the shrub-steppe ecosystem here. The Rabbitbrush is in full bloom in autumn, and look at the show as far as the eye can see. I’ve written about it before here: Gray Rabbitbrush.

Today, I did not miss the trees. Trees are nice— I love our little town with tree-lined streets that offer beauty, shade, and more. But, oh, nature has its lessons by sharing each season the beauty of each area of our world. I’m thankful for it all.

And so, a poem…

Poetry

Trees Are Nice

Trees are nice
I love them, for sure,
Yet the beauty
Of the shrub-steppe’s
Seasonal show
Is nature’s way
To teach us—
Be thankful
For it all—
Forest, desert,
Ocean, plains:
Our earth’s
Bountiful gifts.
