Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem.
The crab apple trees are in full bloom, deep pink buds, almost fuchsia, and delicate light pink blossoms whose petals often float away in a strong breeze. Bumble bees love them as do many other insects, which means we’ll have plenty of crab apples for the deer in late autumn.
I try to memorize the view of our entire side street lined with these lovely blossoming trees. It’s one of the things the universe will miss when the earth becomes too hot because we refuse to take the problem seriously, because greedy stockholders demand continued use of fossil fuels, and because climate change deniers cannot imagine the science that shows our dilemma.
If you are interested climate change, I’ve provided resources below.
Today is Earth Day. What if we are the only living planet? And we destroy it? It’s simply so depressingly sad.
Do what you can: every little bit helps.
So today, with my gouache digital brushes, I added today’s haiku with my crab apple blossoms, illustrated in gouache. The blossoms are purple though to coordinate with my other project. You can find the greeting card and postcard on Zazzle. Inside the cards say: “Every day is Earth Day. Enjoy and protect its beauty.”

Earth Day 2024
Earth, a small blue dot
in vast space, still teems with life;
Heal the earth; heal us.
