A Record Player

Lisa Bardot has completely updated her MidCentury brush set, so if you’ve purchased it, go get it. It’s great. She shared a video of the brushes with a drawing lesson of an old record player. That reminded me of a memory.

My dad found a broken record player/ radio set but found that the components all worked, just the cabinet was wrecked. So he pulled it out and found an old TV console just the size for the record player/ radio. So he slid it in and checked it out, hauling it up the stairs to my room. When I got home from school I was so surprised! I could actually play records and listen to the radio station like my friends did — KOMA in Oklahoma City 92.5 played rock n roll. We in North Dakota could only get it at night because of the way radio waves work.

Here’s a great lesson on radio waves from NOAA: Learning Lesson: Am in the PM. Hopefully Harris / Walz will be elected and we’ll still have access to lessons at NOAA. The other guy wants to gut it. Read Project 2025.

Anyway, I miss my dad and the little things he did for me.
