More Cards for the Challenge

Remember my sketches?

For more designs for the Delores Naskrent Card Challenge, I decided to try the one with the cat because a friend was not feeling well. I created the above get well card — right in Affinity Designer. I was surprised how easy it was to draw with the pencil tool, first the base of the cat, then the back leg and tail in another color, followed by strokes with the vector brush for details.

An important thing to do with the text after creating it with the “art text” tool, is to convert the text to curves, which creates a “group” folder with all the parts / curves to the text. Go to the geometry tool while selecting this group and choose “add.” This adds all the parts/curves to create one curve of the text, now vectorized as one piece. That way, if the item is shared, but the program that opens it doesn’t have that font, the text will remain the same because it’s been translated into vector. Cool tip.

With this idea, I decided to create five other cards:

The Me and You card I made for our anniversary on October 11th! I still need to play around with background colors so they contrast better with the cats. But wasn’t this fun?

So, from three sketches, I was able to create eleven different cards in no time at all.
