Splash Grid Calendar

Splash Grid Calendar

I’m making a calendar to sell from Printful on Etsy. I don’t have a store yet, but I’m building and illustrating the calendar now, following the promotional Create a Calendar Bootcamp by Liz Kohler Brown.

I finally decided on a theme, using what I call Splash Grid art. They are quick and easy to create, and I’ve sent these to friends to bring some joy and hope into the world. I think they’d make great calendar pages.

What is Splash Grid Art?

It’s a grid, it’s a splash of art, color, and texture. It usually includes a positive message. And it doesn’t take long to make. I wrote how to create them here at Quick Splash Grid Messages, a type of warmup for artists. It includes the native brushes I used in Procreate and the process of creating one, step by step. Find a video there also for the how-to. Another video adds to another blog post on Splash Grids here: SplashGrid: Bluebells. Find all my Splash Grid art posts here and my Flickr album here.

Here’s my most recent Splash Grid– note the grid and the splashes of paint and color with a message:

Calendar Pages

In the image at the top of the post, you can see the calendar cover page behind the Printful template. I’ll hide the template when I save the png of the entire illustration which I’ll upload to the calendar-maker at Printful.

Below is January’s page behind the page template for Printful’s calendar:

And here are the three first pages of my Splash Grid Art calendar: the cover, January, and February. I made a template with the January page so I can just duplicate it, add in the background gingham, the Splash Grid art, notes motifs, and dates components for each page. Liz provided the templates for Gelato, including the dates, which I am transferring for my calendars.
