Let Sunshine find you: Smile. by Sheri42

Daily Create #tdc5244

My friend @dogtrax nudged me to join the Daily Create, which includes one of my 2017 attempts uploaded to Flickr for calligraphy, creating, and joy. The #tdc5244 for May 23rd asks us to “Take inspiration from Kim’s poem and write one of your own beginning with the line ‘when life gives you sunshine’.”

Whenever life gives me sunshine, I take time to thank the universe for the life and beauty of this planet and for the gift of my living through it. I am so thankful for this life.

I refer you to the Desiderata, and the sentence, “You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.” Remember that, always.

Poetry for Daily Create

When Life Gives You Sunshine

When life gives you sunshine,
relax and breathe in
close your eyes and breathe out
thank the universe
for the light
for the warmth
for the gift of life—
open your eyes to the world
in its beauty in front of you
where the sunshine
fuels a plant
provides a shadow
creates a rainbow
find the small joys
of the helpers
the lovers
the givers
to remember
what no one can take—
life gives you sunshine
to hold our essence—
a people, together,
on this planet;
that we, the people, are.

Art for Daily Create

I had already written poetry and illustrated in honor of this flower that is like the sun, the Salsify flower that opens in the morning. Read about it here, with the art, photography, and poem from the post listed below.

Later on I created several patterns for this lovely Salsify flower.
Posts about each group’s process: Pattern Group 1. Pattern Group 2.
