Weekly WrapUp Rabbits and Cards

Welcome

On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week I completed a collection for a Spoonflower challenge, revised a wreath from last week, and finished my revision of my 5 Cards in 5 Day challenge with Delores Nascent. Another busy week.

In last week’s wrap-up, I shared my work in three challenges: Delores Naskrent’s 5 Cards in 5 Days Course and Challenge, the Spoonflower Design Challenge of Modern Toile, and Kelley Burke @kelleybrenburke Botanical Silhouettes wreath. I revised all of them this week.

Greeting Cards

Delores emphasized a couple things: typography, white space, and color coordinated collections. I changed my font to one that is available for commercial use, Delius Swash Caps from fonts.google.com. I recolored my cards to coordinate together, and I fine-tuned each card by smoothing lines, adding details, and centering. I look forward to uploading these to my shops. These projects included both Procreate and Affinity Designer, but mostly Affinity Designer.

Garden Toile Shenanigans

I decided to create a collection to accompany the Garden Toile Shenanigan entry for the Spoonflower challenge. Although the original toile was created in Procreate, the striped pattern at lower right I created in Affinity Designer. In doing so, I was able to fine tune the rabbits as well with the ease of vector graphics. The solid stripes are also Affinity Designer created with a process from Liz Kohler Brown. The gingham is Procreate created. I chose the colors green and cream because the rabbits are in a green garden and cream is a toile color. I plan on ordering a “Fill a Yard” from Spoonflower of these for a small quilt.

Revised Wreath Anniversary Card

Once again, I remixed a design for a family greeting card. These Kelly Bren Burke botanicals are such fun to arrange and paint, adding one’s own details.

Thanks for stopping by!
