Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Traveling home from our granddaughter’s wedding, we enjoyed the view of the amazing Columbia Gorge along the mighty Columbia River— the western portions are green with orchards, vineyards, and forests. The eastern portion is filled with orchards, vineyards, farmland, and wind turbines. And all along the millions of years old basalt cliffs are waterfalls, small cascades tumbling off the rolling hills above.
And so, a poem.
Poetry
Cascades
Seen above these millions of years old lava flows,
Sheri Edwards
find rolling hills with wind turbines, orchards, vineyards, farms, forests,
flourishing beneath the frequent rain clouds, drizzling the soil green
until a downpour rushes down and through the hills, tumbling, tumbling
in cascades all along, here and there, over these ancient basalt cliffs
of the Columbia Gorge along the mighty Columbia River.
