Wednesday WrapUp Flowers and Bee

Part of flower / bee pastel illustration

Welcome!

Each Wednesday check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate. This Wednesday Wrap Up— rather a WarmUp, I share the a class and community this week that provided the foundation for a Mothers Day greeting.

Inspiration

I enjoyed a class this week through a wonderful art community for which I belong, Jennifer Nichols’ Creative Journey Community, a subscription-based art community. It’s neighborhood, really, with artists from around the world, sharing kindly as we learn art together with Jennifer’s awesome Procreate classes. For subscription information, go here: Membership Information for Creative Learning Community.

The class, “Soft Pastel Flowers and Bees” taught us the painterly pastel style with Jennifer’s brushes and techniques. One of the techniques is to create the bees wings without a need for lowering the opacity— we just followed the process of observing the analogous color variations in reference photos. Jennifer demonstrates as participants follow along.

Results

I wasn’t able to finish the bee before Mother’s Day— but look at the lovely card I made for the mothers in our family.

When I did find my health strength again, I finished the class and am very proud of the bee.

Try it

If you’d like to learn this pastel style, you can learn from Jennifer Nichols, an artist teacher with a desire to share and guide others in learning art with Procreate. I’ve been taking her classes and joined her community that will fit any novice or professional artists needs. Thank you, Jennifer, for creating the welcoming environment that enables us to learn together.
