Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem.

On my daily walk, I disturbed the mule deer resting in the shade of the tall trees in Cole Park. I turned to walk away from them and they returned to their naps. So, obviously, even the deer know the importance of trees, unlike our city council. [Heartbreak]

We always turn and go a different way when we walk into an area of mule deer— it seems the civil thing to do, since they had already found the perfect spot for their needs, and we’re simply passing by. And most often, they are resting in the shade on summer days or in the sunny areas in the cold of spring and fall.

And so, a poem…

Importance of Trees

Even the deer choose
A shady space
Drawn to the tall trees,
For a resting place.
