Welcome
On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week I finished too another Liz Kohler Brown class and a Delores Naskrent class. I made an anniversary card and “bee” certificates for a friend. I’m not sure how I fit it all in!
Vector Bouquet
I do love Delores Naskrent classes — she’s so helpful and down to earth. This one was reviewing making vector flowers and vases to create a nice bouquet suitable for a card.

Historical Patterns for Wallpaper
Another wonderful teacher and mentor is Liz Kohler Brown. She does live draws twice a month for members to watch and learn how she takes her Procreate inking, vectorizes it, and imports it into Affinity Designer. Her studio has an online vectorize that is neat and sweet. Love it, her classes, and her community. Here’s my craftsman style amaryllis lily pattern based on an historical layout, one of many provided by Liz.

Remix for New
What do I do with all the art I create? I remix them for other purposes, like this anniversary card for my granddaughter and husband. Add a little transparent rectangle and text, and there’s a card for their big day.

Hooray for Lisa Bardot
Another great teacher for Procreate is Lisa Bardot. I’m a founding member of her community and love the fun way she walks us through learning to draw and paint and create wonderful bits of art. Today was a celebration of FOUR YEARS of Art Makers Club.
Lisa created a “brush roulette” wheel with a different brush from her many clubhouse brush sets. She turned the wheel and a brush was selected. She then did the same for an object. Our goal was to use that brush and in three minutes create that object with that one brush. Very fun. We also broke out into sessions to meet other members “face to face.” In my group I met a fellow artist only thirty minutes from me! Wow! A very fun celebration.

BEE Fun
Finally, a friend of mine volunteers for the Washington State Bee Atlas, in the field, finding and documenting the bees of our state. At the end of the year, the group recognizes the volunteers in many ways, including with certificates. My friend asked me and other artists to design a few certificates for her part of the program. Below are three bees of Washington State and one of my designs for a certificate. I am honored she asked for my help.
I chose three bees that like sunflowers and drew both the bees and the sunflowers.
