For #blaugust2026 today, I share a photo from a Better Homes and Garden email newsletter, which linked to this blog post: Avocado Green Comeback:

We’ve been living in our house for forty years, and almost every time I enter our kitchen, I think: “1970s.” Why? Because the countertops are avocado green! Remember those avocado green appliances? I liked them. And that is when the kitchen was added to our 1934 house.
I didn’t even mind my avocado green countertops all these years, and now, they are back in vogue.
So I took the liberty of “fair use” to remix the above photo with a few memories of my own kitchen’s “warm, earthy neutral.”

Memories in a 70s avocado themed kitchen:
- Left: Tea and saucer, kitty creamer, and the fairy from my granddaughter: ready for the day with a cuppa and some magic
- Center: Great-grandchild announcement arrived in the mail with these mugs for great-gramma and grampa
- Right: favorite mugs: translucent blue wildflower mugs for my husband and I during our morning coffee ritual
So, if you ever pop over, tea or coffee is ready, on the cozy avocado counter.

What is Blaugust?
